Excellent progress Hilmar!![]()
I'm sure it won't be long before you break 90.![]()

Played 16 holes at Glamorgan Golf Club on a beautiful Guy fawkes Day, as two holes were unplayable due to heavy rain the day before. I shot 87, which made me pretty happy as I have only played here once before.
The day cost me 13 quid. Sometimes the grass is greener (especially in Wales).
Played Windsor Park on the 23rd with Toshi, Jeremy and Steve N. I shot 96 (47 & 49). Had a few penalties so I´m pretty pleased with the score. My handicap is now 21 and my aim is 18. Will get there soon.
Will play Oak Villiage on the 31st and I can´t wait.

Dear Mr Big
Excellent progress. I think you should do some stretching and increase your flexibility so that you can swing through your shots more. Might also help you work off some of that excess Christmas pudding I am betting you ate!![]()

"a vast array of swing jargon that only confuses you..."
Dear Hilmar - what part of "excess Christmas pudding" confused you? Not that I should talk - just shot a majestic 98, worst round in months.
What do you suggest?
HAHA - are we wearing shorts for the Polar Bear Cup?![]()
Played Oak Village today for the first time. Desmond Muirhead is an assholeMy score was pretty bad (110) and I lost ca. 10 balls. My driver sucked but my irons rocked today. But bottom line I had a great time on a great golf course.
Happy New Year to all Golfjin Members.

The Icelandic Polar beer
Played my first round for 2012 yesterday at Windsor Park with some of the gang. I can safely say that was the worst round of golf I've played this year.![]()
Duffs, slices, bunker madness......train wreck![]()
I think I need a couple of range sessions before I venture out on a course again!![]()
Driving range is overrated. I haven´t been there for 1 1/2 year and my handicap dropped from 34 to 21![]()
The Icelandic Polar beer
I played Segovia yesterday with Toshi, Steve and Aya. The weather was fantastic and about 10 degrees and sunny. I shot 96 ( 52 - 44 ) and got my first eagle. I holed my 3rd shot from 155 yards. After that I was on pink cloud and did not remember much :)
Segovia is really great course and with bounch of water hazards and island greens. We had a great time and I can't wait to play this course again in february![]()

Well done on the eagle Hilmar and thanks for the course review!![]()
Guys off 22 don't have eagles!
Where's our friendly handi hacker?
Well done Hilmar, you're thriving in the warmth of winter!![]()
I had easily my best putting day ever yesterday, married to one of my worst ballstriking days ever. Weird.
11 puts on the out course (including a chip in), 14 on the in for 25 total
94 was the score
This was while hitting every fairway off the tee but three, and only one penalty stroke (a dead shank off the hosel into a creek with a 6 iron). I just couldn't hit a club that wasn't the driver or a pitch/chip/putt.
This is what leads a man to drink. Must hit the range first.
Played Windsor Park yesterday with awesome crew. Was playing for the first time with my new Ping G20 irons and they felt great. I know I have to get used to them better of course but when I hit a good shot it was freaking good
Shot 49 on the back 9 (we started on the 10th hole) and shot 52 on the front 9. Had some good shots and I was happy about that. Took a few holes to hit good shots with the new irons. But what killed me was penalties, I had at least 6 of them and also my putting was not good. Had 37 putts witch is pretty poor.
The Icelandic Polar beer
Oh, the G20s made it to your home OK? Great! Glad they worked out! Can't wait to see you hole out with them next week.
Yeah they did. Thanx again for all your help. Was awesome.
Hey Granto, what did you shoot in the medal last sunday?![]()
The Icelandic Polar beer
6 OB's (or I might have just been 5 - lost count!), 3 in the creek on hole 7, 2 drowned balls amounted to a perfect score of......
100
Two words for Sunday's performance: Fooking Bollox!
Although, I did learn one important lesson from Sunday:
Apparently, the non smoking tee total golfer in me is even morethan the tee total one.
It may take me a while to adjust to my new playing conditions.![]()
Or how refusing to invoke rule 28 can put you in real trouble....
As most of us could play WP with eyes closed, I won't go into detail explaining the hole. For those who never play there, it's a par 5, with a lateral hazard on the left side of the green.
The pin was on the left side of the green, partially protected by the water hazard.
So, here is the tale of the 13 shoots
Tee-off: ballooning but ending in the fairway
Full of confidence I hit a long OB on the right
Out of frustration, my 4th goes... a good 10 yard ahead
5th OK but 6th end up a meter short from the lateral water hazard, about 40 yard from the pin...and here comes the fun
I have hardly space for my stance, my back is on the side of the pond.
I know I could invoke rule 28 (= 1 penalty) because my ball is not in the hazard but hey!, this is going to be the shoot of my life, as long as I still can struck it firm enough above the water!
Yeah! Great idea! Of course, my 7th is a complete miss, ending to the right of the green, in the rough.
Ok, now I'm clear from the water....FOR NOW! Because my 8th roll on the green, pass the flag and start rolling toward the pond!
It's stopped short from the water (about 3 cm) thanks to the small band of rough
Now again, I can't hit it and this time I can't call rule 28 because it's inside the water Hazard.
So I put my back to the flag and try to hit the ball with my putter, with my right hand only...And here goes two nice wiffs for my 9th and 10th!
At the 3rd attempt, I finally hit the ball on the green, two putt more for a total of 13th
Overall score: 107 which was not that bad, but I hope I will take a penalty next time I feel that my ball is not playable

The 9th at Windsor?
I think we've all had some "moments" on the hole!
I've had a 12 on there.....can anyone top 13?![]()
I shot an 8 on the 9th yesterday... 3rd shot went long and left just carrying the water only to hit the red water hazard stake and bounding back into the pond.
A round of 94 was completed, with a miraculous par on 18, when my tee shot ended up being plugged in the wall of the fairway bunker on the left and me twisting my ankle while getting the ball back onto the fairway, finishing with a one putt for par.
All in all yesterday was fun, if not a bit long, I was helping with the competition yesterday so had to be up and at it from 6am, and not teeing off myself until a little after 10am, and stayed at Windsor Saturday night.
Spike![]()
I played Omigawa in Chiba yesterday and found my game again!
Last year I had a 79 around there, in great conditions. Yesterday I shot an 83 (45+38) in constant, misty drizzle, though it was at least better than last Saturday's rainfest at Windsor, a trial of a day for me, Spike, Toshi and especially Jeremy, who lasted only three holes before walking off.
On the first nine yesterday I was two on for every par four, had one birdie (long putt) on a par five, but dreadful par three's. The second nine was just so consistent. Even when I got myself into a tight spot I managed to escape with a par. I had one other birdie on a par five, dropping another long putt, and played the par three's well.
Seeing as my current tcp is 21, I'm pretty sure I can drop a few strokes...just in time for the World cup events...oh well, you can't win 'em all.
Anyone else played Omigawa?...only Grant? It's rapidly becoming my favourite course!
Pete
I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hairs are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos, and transmit them directly into the brain. This is the reason bald-headed men are uptight.
Shot 84 today at the Spring Stableford at Windsor Park. Should've been better but the greens were not kind to me. 36 putts... three 3-putts
Just thought I'd mention it after getting some stick for a couple of less than stellar scores in Jan-Feb.![]()
I'm back!![]()

Your putt INTO the bunker on 17 was pretty impressive.![]()
Almost as good as my 1784 shots while mining the bunker lip on 15!![]()

Good to see you playing well again Grant ahead of the Shootout. Poor Shane was skinned alive!![]()

New to this thread... loving it..
Played Nidom Classic yesterday.
Shot 37-43 with a triple on the last thanks to a bad lie in a bunker. Unraked foot print. Two shots out. 2 - putt. Through my sand iron at the nearest tree. Went for the Helicopter as opposed to the Tomahawk...very surprised caddy.
Great fun with awesome crew of Japanese dudes who can play.
Next is Lake Toya Hills on Wednesday with the Niseko Hackers. Will be fun...
