The Sakura Cup 2010, April 3rd @ Tsutsujigaoka CC
For the 2nd Sakura Cup, the weather gods yet again smiled upon as we enjoyed a beautiful spring day and near perfect golf conditions.
Tsutsujigoaka CC was in fantastic condition and their monster greens were a joy to 3-putt on (yes they were tough!)
I think everyone had a great time and it was fantastic to see lots of new faces attending their first GG event. It was especially good to see more Japanese (14) and female members (12) in attendance. And as ever it was another truly multi-cultural event with 16 different nationalities enjoying a grand day out together. Thanks to everyone who attended.
And a huge thanks to everyone who helped organize the day:
Laura, Vicki, Greg, Monica, Kieron, Shane, and also the Friday crew who helped get us ready for the event.
Thanks also to Yasu for his company’s donation of banannas and thanks also to Matt and Tim from Living Dreams who helped organize on the day.
And of course, thanks to Tomo-san and the Tsutsujigaoka team who did a great job looking after us.
The Competition:
It was the first time for us to use the Stableford format in a large competition and overall, I think it went very well. It took a bit longer for us to calculate the winners but it was great to see people who played well on the day winning prizes instead of the usual shin peria lottery deciding the places.
Here’s a full list of results:

And a big thanks has to go out to our sponsors for this event. Without their involvement this event wouldn’t have been such a success.

“Empowering and enriching the lives of orphans in Japan”
And this was the first time we did some charity fund-raising at one of our events. Thanks to everyone who donated money to a very worthy cause. We raised ¥187,000 which will go towards the sports program at the Living Dreams homes. We intend to continue this relationship with Living Dreams so lets hope our donations help nurture the next Ryo Ishikawa or Ai Miyazato!

Thank you Grant for organising a great two days golfing. I hope the weather will be just as good for the next outing. James
Good write up Grant.
Thanks again.![]()

thank you grant![]()
I really enjoyed the day even though I didn't have a chance to play this time.
The good news!
Piranha Golf will exchange the first prize for a set of (customized) lady's clubs!!!
These clubs have only just been launched in January and we are quite happy to customize this set for Mai.
The policy is usually that prizes are not exchangeable but we are more than happy to make an exception in this case.
Looking forward to more tournaments in the future!
Don't forget to join up on Piranha's Facebook page (even anonymously) to be in the draw for many prizes offered each month.

Great tournament, wonderful company, and a nice course! With all that, no need to worry about score, we already are winners!
Thanks Grant and everyone else that made the day!
Great job Grant! I am still not an 18...
Laura, Not just watching.

Grant,
Thank you for the great event and the fun write-ups.
I really enjoyed the Gaijin Golfer event - not only because I won the fabulous "Piranha Golf" irons - but enjoyed spending the day with such lively entertaining crowd. Its definitely a great event for Gaijin and non-Gaijin !
looking forward to the next outing!!
