Glorious Greens win back the Samurai Cup - Photos and report
The 3rd annual Samurai Cup was held @ Windsor Park on Nov.26 and 27.
In 2008 the Green Team romped to victory in the Day 2 Singles to win the inaugural event and the Red Team exacted revenge with a serious 35.5 to 13.5 points thrashing in 2009.
With the series tied 1 apiece, the Green and Red Samurai were seriously revved up for the 3rd installment in this fantastic event.
The 2010 Samurai
Day 1:
The respective team captains and vice captains were first to tee off and Jason and James dealt the first blow for the Red beating Greg & Grant in both the scramble and best ball matches.
@ Jason : HC13 + 7 pars in a row = handiwatch
But other Green pairs took up the slack to keep their team in the match.
Here’s Taff (Green Samurai) with the luxury of 3 putts to win his and Jonathan’s best ball match against Scott & Frank.
And here's Marcus & Chris (Green Samurai) on the 18th who took 1.5pts in their Day 1 matches against Matt & Jerry (Red Samurai)
Sun sets on the Samurai Cup after a fun-filled and fiercely competitive days golf.
So after the first days play, it couldn’t have been closer as the teams were tied at 5-5 and with 20 points available in the Singles matches on Day 2, everything was still to play for.
Day 2:
The first Day 2 match tees off in glorious sunshine
And much like the previous 2 cups, one team dominated the singles and this time it was the turn of the Greens. Of the 20 points available in the singles, the Green Team secured 15 points to the Red Team's 5.
Final Score:
Green Samurai 20
Red Samurai 10
Congratulations to the Green Samurai

A big thanks to Greg and Jason for organizing this event. And thanks also to people who provided prizes and gear especially James from Ocean Park Capital and Jason from ESP Japan who provided the fantastic Samurai caps.
Looking forward to the next installment of the Samurai Cup in 2011.![]()

Nice report and pics mate! Thanks!
It was a lot of fun and the final score didn't reflect the closeness of many of the matches.
Thanks to all who donated prizes.
The trophy will be engraved and ready in about a week if any Green Team members want to borrow it to show the WAGs and earn a few brownie points at home!![]()
Hopefully I won't lose it this time!
