The 3rd annual Kouyou Cup @ Windsor Park G&CC, Ibaraki, Nov.13th, 2010.
At the 3rd annual Kouyou Cup, we had our biggest turnout yet for a Golfjin event. An impressive 73 players were in attendance. 19 different nationalities from all over the globe were represented and it was great to have more Japanese (16) and Ladies (12) joining a Golfjin event.![]()
It was a lovely autumnal day on Saturday, perfect weather for golf and the kouyou was looking beautiful.![]()
A huge thanks to everyone who helped organize this event. It wouldn’t have been quite as well run without all the Golfjin’s and volunteers who did their bit for our golf club:
Check in desk: Laura & Caroline
Stableford scoring team: James & Jason
Awards Party: Spike & Laura
Cameraman: Olly
Charity fund-raising: Matt Kass, Sachiyo, Mie & Jason
Car pools: Frank, Jochen, Kowata-san, William, Jason, Evan & Pavel
Prize donation: Mike H
Sponsors in attendance:
Peter from Piranha Golf
James from Ocean Park Capital
Olly from Olly foot care
Thanks also to Yasu for his company’s donation of bananas
And finally thanks to Yano-san and the Windsor Park staff who did an excellent job of looking after us.
The Competition:
This was just the 2nd time to use the stableford format in a large competition and thanks to our experiences at the Sakura Cup, we were able to organize things a lot more efficiently this time around. It takes a lot longer to calculate winners but we did it in record time. And as before, it was great to see people who played well on the day winning prizes instead of the shin peria lottery deciding places.
Here’s a full list of results:
Congratulations to Kowata-san who shot a personal best of 88 and won the event with 46 stableford points
NB: When players stableford scores were tied, countback was used to determine places.
Countback 1: Comparison of stableford scores for the last 9 holes
Countback 2: Comparison of stableford scores for the last 6 holes
Countback 3: Comparison of stableford scores for the last 3 holes
Higher countback score places higher. If still a tie after countback 1, compare countback 2 and so on.
