Default The first B&G Cup - Results and report

    The inaugural B&G Cup

If you ever find yourself organizing a golf outing, there’s always one main issue which can give you sleepless nights - the potential for bad weather on the day of the event.

And I should probably thank all the meteorologists out there who only forecasted light rain in the afternoon. Had they actually got it right and predicted a deluge for most of the day then this event might not have gone ahead as planned.

Despite some horrendously nasty weather, this was a top event and although we all got severely drenched especially on the 2nd nine, everyone got into the spirit of things and played in some of the worst golfing weather they’ve probably ever experienced.
Trying to putt through huge puddles is not easy

And for many, this was their first time to play in a Texas Scramble and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. It actually turned out to be the perfect format because the playing conditions got very tough out there:
Texas Scramble = Mulligans aplenty =

36 players (18 teams of 2) were challenging for the B&G Cup and here are the results of the Texas Scramble:

Congratulations to Hilmar and Miwa who won the event with a net 69.
(The countback system was used to determine places when net scores were tied)

1st Place: ¥20,000 of gift vouchers from Le Petit Tonneau
2nd Place: ¥10,000 of gift vouchers from Le Petit Tonneau
    3rd Place: 2 iPod Shuffles
4th Place: Victoria Golf vouchers and Isetan Esthe prize
7th Place: Victoria Golf vouchers and Isetan Esthe prize
    BB: 2 Golf Tempo Gizmos

    Long Drive winners:
    Ivar
    Jeff

    Near Pin winners:

    Maki
    Matthew

    After round party:
Thanks to Philippe and Le Petit Tonneau staff who put on a great spread for us in the evening. Loads of delicious food and the wine was flowing.
    Thanks Philippe
I'm already looking forward to the 9th Petit Tonneau challenge at the end of this month

I’ll be posting some photos from the day soon (once I receive them )
(Granto forgot to bring his own camera )

And we're already thinking about a date for next years B&G Cup so watch out for it on the Golfjin calendar.

Thank you for all! I enjoyed playing a lot. Grant and Laura, Otsukaresama!
And I appreciate Mr.Fillipe and Haruko-san's cooperation. I'm sorry not be able to attend the party. I'm looking forward to visit your restaurant someday.

Thank you Mike! I think we could do our best. However, I can't see any award for 6th place. My eyes must be playing trick on me?

Yup Yup. Thank U 2! I thought we were going to clean house after starting the first 2 holes with par.
Anyways, considering the conditions, I think we played pretty well and both had some nice shots at the right time.

    Great pics, thanks for posting!

Some challenging holes, the combination of water hazards and narrow fairways really made you play a different game altogether. I also found myself asking where the fairway was!

Also, putting into a cup full of water reminded me of the Caddyshack storm scene..
