The Golfjin World Cup 2010 @ Windsor Park G&CC, June 20th
Thanks to everyone who played in the first Golfjin World Cup. I think the event was a big success and I’m already looking forward to doing this again next year.
My self-proclaimed title of hare-otoko (Fine weather man) is thankfully still intact although it was looking dodgy there for a while.

And it was fantastic to see lots of countries represented. We ended up with 23 teams from all over the globe:
11 from Europe, 5 from North America, 2 from Oceania, 2 from Asia and 3 Commonwealth teams. Hopefully, next year we can get even more countries involved.
The competition:
For this event, we played a 2-person Texas Scramble. Everyone seemed to really enjoy this format and taking into account team handicaps, the results were pretty close with lots of teams not far behind the eventual winners.
The Golfjin bookmakers were pretty spot on with their odds. USAII, Canada II and Scotland were where the smart money was going and they all finished up the top.
Congratulations to USAII (Scott G and Marcus K) who won the cup with a net 60 (Gross 64!). Apparently, they started birdie-birdie-birdie and added an eagle to go out in a mere 31 shots!
Marcus and Scott with their spoils of victory
Well done to Norway who finished 2nd which was aided by Stein’s eagle on the 10th (holed his 9 iron approach shot)
2nd place - Norway (Stein and Tor)
Stein's eagle on the 10th
And commiseration's () to Scotland who finished with a net 62 (gross 67) to finish in the Bronze position
