I was lucky to get a last minute day off this week to play a round of golf with my colleagues on the
only sunny day this week. Unfortunately we were unlucky to have picked this course as the
conditions were very poor due to the previous days and evening rain.
Getting to the course:
Relatively easy to get to about an hour each way from central Tokyo. Only 40K once on the Joban and
3K off the exit.
Clubhouse:
Nice new and modern clubhouse. Very simple and stylish.
Practice Facilities:
There were two practice putting greens, both were relatively small and not well maintained. The
driving range was about 50 yards in length had about 6 booths.
Course:
It has seen better days. The first few holes in the morning had a lot of casual water in the
fairways and rough. Almost all bunkers were filled with water and unplayable. And most of the
greens were in bad shape: very soft, patchy, unfixed divots, and some were recently sanded.
The layout is uninteresting other than a few holes. Hole number 9 is nice where you have to layup in
front of water and your second shot to carry on. Flat and wide fairways, rough was a bit sticky,
not much OB but there were a number of holes where water hazards come into play.
Pace of play was pretty good, due to the two man carts which you could drive on the fairway.
Price:
Was a bit pricey at 11K for the shape of the course on the day, so a bit disappointing and unlucky.
However the proximity to Tokyo is the reason for the high price.
Food:
High quality Japanese selection but also a bit in the pricey range, average dish was around 1700yen
(2300 - 1100).
Overall a decent beginner or confidence building course where you are not penalized heavily for bad
shots. Felt very much like a US public course other than the price. Would like to play again if
the conditions were improved and/or price was less expensive.
