Thread: Calling all Kansai

Is anybody interested in getting a group together for a round or two? This month (May, '09) I have the 12th, 13th, 21st, and 22nd available. Any course with reasonable access is fine with me.

Great to see another Kansai person on this site. I'm working all of the dates you listed, unfortunately. June ought to open things up a bit. Do you ever get weekends off? I work every weekday, except for the very occasional Friday. For example, this Friday the 13th I'm plaing Cherry Hills in Miki/Yokawa area (where I do most of my golfing.)

i may have a friend able to join that i have referred. he is about to move to osaka, loves his golf and used to play a lot in guam.

Thanks for the response. I think my only day off in the entire month of June is Saturday the 27th. I guess it's getting a little too hot by that time for weddings. Nobody likes a sweaty bride, eh. I don't mind the 10 handicap, but I'm not sure about the Canadian thing. As long as you don't rub your socialized medicine and low crime rate in my face it'll be fine. July should be fairly open, but I'll be headed home to Honolulu for most of August.

Anyway, with Obama I'm sure your only a decade or two away from a comparable system.

I'm up for a round, but I'm afraid my wheels are the kind that require a ticket. I don't know if any courses are accessable by train, but if you make a tee time anywhere I will show up with bells on. Does anybody know which courses are accessable by train, if the course is near the station or has a shuttle bus?

Hi Greg-san

I know some golf-club have bus but not so many.

1) Hanayashiki Yokawa golf club
Jr Takarazuka-line Shin-Sanda station to course, need reservation

2) Miki Yokawa golf club
Jr Takarazuka-line, Takarazuka station 8:10am
Jr Kobe-line, Sannomiya station 8:00am ( not regularly)
have to make reservation.

3) Yamanohara golf club
Nose dentetsu Nissei-line, Nissei-Chuo station 7:20~ 3times in a hour.


PGA and LPGA are using 3) and 1) every year.

Most of the courses out here in Nara seem to have shuttle buses, mainly from Kintetsu Nara or JR nara, not necessarily the nearest station.

Lake Forest resort, just into Kyoto prefecture goes from there.

Hakusan Village in deepest Mie has a bus from the local Kintetsu express station.

Hanna CC, near Ikoma has one from Ikoma or Higashi Ikoma station.

I think I have seen the shuttles at J & P, Uda and Murou 36, Nara no Mori and a few more...

Anywhere with a hotel/onsen attached pretty much provides transport.

P.S. Hirakata CC and its par3 course is on the regular Keihan bus service 93.

Sorry I didn't get back to you, I was waiting for a notification in my regular e-mail that a gaijingolfer had responded to the thread, but I guess I haven't set my profile up right. I'll let you know about my next outing and I drive so if you get to a station near me, I'll get you to the course. I have a regular place I play (Mecha) which I'm sure you'll love. No waiting between 9's and 2000 yen for an extra 9 holes!!!

Just joined as new to Osaka and interested in discovering the joys of the courses in Japan; available weekends.

It's a bit last minute, but who's up for a round this Sunday?

I have wheels, so if you need a ride and can make your way to Sannomiya, Kobe, I'll take you to the course and back.

I'll need to know by tomorrow to have any hope of finding a decent tee off time (between 9 and 10).

Ah, the joy and bliss of marriage. I too will be thinking of the powerful bonds of matrimony this Sunday as I speculate on how angry my wife will be when I decide to play an extra nine thereby delaying my return from the pre-agreed time.

Sorry to say, I have to work on both the 11th and 27th. July is also open for me, unfortunately I will be spending the bulk of it in Canada, almost all of that time on the links. I leave on the 14th, so maybe we can sneak a round in before I go to help me get in fighting trim.

I hope you are all getting your golf fixes this summer. I would like some information, please. Which courses in the Kansai area are amenable to accpeting reservation from non-member gaijin golfers? Are ther any caveats about making T-times in Japan?
