The Autumn Scramble @ Kasumigaura CC, Ibaraki
Owing to the popularity for the Summer Scramble (and the 4-person team format), I've made a booking for October 1st @ Kasumigaura CC. This is a highly rated course in Ibaraki that's about a 90-minute drive from central Tokyo.
What is a Texas Scramble/Ambrose?
Each player hits a tee shot on every hole. The best ball, as determined by the team, is selected for the second shot. Each member of the team hits his or her shot from the same spot. This process continues until the hole is played out.
Cost: ¥17,500
Includes: Green fee, cart fee & lunch
Comp entry fee: ¥2,000
Prizes:
1st placed team (4 prizes)
2nd placed team (4 prizes)
Wooden Spoon team (4 prizes)
Other: TBC
Teams and competition format:
Teams will be made up of 4 players each of whom falls into one of these handicap categories:
A: 0-12
B: 13-20
C: 21-29
D: 30+
(The spread of each category might need to change a little depending on sign ups)
So each team will have one A player, 1 B, 1 C and 1 D.
According to sign ups, the 8 lowest handicapped players will be assigned as team captains. And once we have 32 players, the teams will be balanced as fairly as possible to keep them even (Team captains will have hand in the team-making process)
18 hole event - Best Team Gross score wins (No handicapping)
In the event of tied gross scores, countback will be used to determine places
Each team must select a minimum of 3 tee shots from each team member.
Signing up process:
When signing up, please include:
Full name
Handicap
Transport plan (Driving/Need a lift/Coach desirable)
NB: Going by train is not really an option to this course as there is no club bus service from the nearest station (Ishioka on the Joban Line).
Coach Service:
In order for a coach service to be viable, we need at least 20 people for this option. Likely per person cost: ¥3,000-¥4,000
