A really solid 105 strokes I took getting round the course today
What kept it all together was once again my putting under pressure which included no less than 3 4-putts.
I'm celebrating with a few beers and hanging with my 1 1/2 year old.![]()
Not many others in the house care to listen
..................and damn, I felt good going into todays gameOne day I'll get it together again
That's the spirit - never give up![]()
Windsor Park 25/1 - 91 off the stick, 4 over par from the blue and black tips. Happy with my putting.......and that's it. Great day though playing with HH and Brian. Thanks guys, and sitting around afterwards talking with the other groups made a change to finish, bath, car, traffic jam.
Leaving at 6pm was great, back to Tokyo in 1 hour 45 minutes.
Aqualine 26/1 - Broke 100 by a few, off the back markers. Ridiculous amount of people on the course. 3 Hours for the front nine. Hit the ball, wait 10 minutes, hit the ball...... Don't people have jobs? None of us got into any rythym. For once work might have been better than golf.![]()
Played at The US Navy base course - Atsugi Golf course (aka Whispering Pines). Whispering Pines Golf Course
Course review coming tomorrow.
Thanks for inviting us Matada! We had a great day
Shot 91 (45-46) with 40 putts - Very fast greens! The 6-putt club could break all known records on these greens, I think:
2 birdies though
John G shot 86 and Matada 95

They may not be faster in Summer. Perhaps they didn't overseed with rye grass in the Autumn, but still dethatched them. That would make them like putting on ice because there isn't enough grass on them.
Have they all been rebuild as USGA spec greens? The last time I played, the practice green and the 2nd hole were the only two with new greens.
I think Matada said they use a different type of bent grass. 12 on the stimp meter I think he said.
Played at WP today and had 35 points stableford, including a miss on the last. I was 80 off the stick teeing off on the last and went OB and in the pond, so I picked up and walked off with a smile on my face.![]()
Shot 87 at Windsor Park today (by 10 shots my best score there) and 43 points on the Stableford. Very pleased with my ball-striking today especially the driver. Definitely the last time I'll be allowed to use that nominal 22 handicap again
Oh yeah, and my newirons kick butt!
Yes, I think you'll be off 18 next time
Well played though!![]()
What a great spring day it was today... it must have thawed out my swing... I shot a 95 (47F/48B) today. First sub 100 round this year, hope the trend continues.![]()
A disappointing 89 for me. Left a lot of shots out there today and didn't get any breaks on the greens.
Hole of the day:
Par 5 12th: 522 Yards
Nailed the drive about 300 yards then hit a beautiful 5 wood to about 6 feet. Shaved the hole with my eagle putt and tapped in for a birdie![]()
Blue tees of course![]()

Poor outing for me, but I'm use to it. I'll share some positives. I had a par on both the 2nd and the 11th, which included solid drives on both, good approach shots and fairly routine two putts. A less direct positive was that I had a triple bogey on 17 and a quad on 18 and still managed a 52 on the back 9. Other high points included playing with the other 3 (Shane, Matt and Peter). I watched a lot of very good golf shots:
Shane (oldman) played very solid golf indeed and he straightened out my putting game for me. Went from 22 putts on the front down to 17 on the back. Feeling a bit like Ben Crenshaw I was. Many thanks to Shane. He didn't however mention his second to last shot on 18 out of the bunker which damn near killed Peter and I.
Peter not only played really well and won, he also devised a strategy for me to get new clubs into my bag without my wife knowing. Thanks for that one, Peter.
Matt gave me a thorough grounding in the rules of stableford. Many thanks, though that was lessened by his drive (?) on 18 that won him the driving the competition. Why didn't I just use a pitching wedge?
It was a great day to be on the golf course, my sunburned forehead can attest to it. Thanks to all.
Yeah, it was fun day

Ok.
I played 27 at Atsugi today. My front 9 score was a 43, which was pretty awesome for me. Then, for some reason, I totally crapped out on the back 9 and shot a 49 on the back 9.
Well, I was so pissed, that I went and played the back 9 over, and BAM, a 41. That is my record for a 9 hole round.
I can't figure out why I keep doing this. I can't have a good front and good back in the same round.
Maybe I should just start bowling.....
You need to get in touch with your inner Zen golfer
I'm usually the opposite. Poor front nine - rally on the back nine![]()
Thanks for putting that up Granto. Strange focus on the picture is due to the lady who took it wobbling around during the exposure. I can't answer for the strange look of the group as a whole
I look taller than everyone by a mile! Is it true or is everyone else 'vertically challenged'?Am seriously considering getting some Ian Poulter-type mad tartan trews to brush up my look on the links. Anyone have any favourite golf clothing stores they can point me in the direction of?
Well done to all who played yesterday. I really enjoyed playing with Matt, Shane and Tony and hope to do so again soon.
Good luck with the club switch, Tony!
Yeah, I noticed the picture had a slightly bleak look to it - would've been a lot brighter if I'd won, I'm sure
I have a pair of these trooosers in my cupboard:
Never been worn - yours for a song![]()
Really great people in GG..and played 112 last sunday..thanks Granto.
I'll prepare for sakura on April4th then..need more practice in range for straight drive...and franks thanks for a ride..![]()
You serious? I'd have expected you to have a pair of tartan casuals somewhere.
I'll serenade you for them Grant. Which would you prefer: a medley of David Bowie hits, or Roxy Music? I guarantee you'll be begging me to take the damn things after the first few opening bars!
It was a beautiful day out at Windsor Park yesterday, a pity my golf didn't match up. Shot a 92, 5 over par, with four of those shots coming on 18 for the second week in a row. It is now officially my new BBBBogey hole. The good news, parred #10 for the second week in a row.
Thanks to Tor and MarkF for making it an enjoyable day.
