Got a lot of new clubs lately...all I need now is a decent wedge or two.

    All left handed!!!

4W: Mizuno Persimmon (25 years old) Will replace this with a hybrid soon.

    Irons: Nike SQ Machspeed 4-AW

    SW: Fitway

    Here is my setup:

    Driver: Cobra 8.5* on a 45" x-stiff shaft.
    3w: Cobra 3W+ on a stiff shaft.
5w: Cobra 5W on a regular flex shaft

PW-3i: Titleist 762's on Dynamic Gold regular flex shafts. (125-205 yards)

SW: TaylorMade RAC 54* (100 yards)
AW: Titleist Vokey 58* (60 yards)

I am in a little bit of trouble if I have a 115 yard shot as I can't seem to lay off a PW and hit an accurate shot consistently. I can do it somewhat with wedges, but I may wind up going with a 52* and 56*.

Made a new addition to the bag this week, well actually replacement..
I splurged and went out and got myself a new putter, a Bettinardi MC-3

Although in Japan it normally retails at JPY65,000, new, I was able to find it in a secondhand store at JPY12,000

Gave it a whirl yesterday and it works well... I was nervous in going to a much lighter putter than what I had been using but yesterday showed that with a light putter I can still get the ball to the hole on long putts...

Can't wait to try it out at Windsor tomorrow....

Had a few additions and will therefore be retiring my trusty little chipper and Persimmon 5 wood..
The chipper helped me a lot, but time to rely on other clubs for the pitch and runs.

A few weeks ago I got a new 58deg Nike Wedge. 5980 yen on special.
Today I picked up a second hand Utility for only 2900 yen. (38000 RRP ).

    Blue Power #5 21deg.

Edit: Night time field test results: Visibility.... street light from 20 yards. poor to not too bad considering. Off the freshly cut (3 weeks ago) riverside rough in Chiba towards the 3rd green across the river into Kita Koshigaya CC Saitama...visibility zero.
First shot topped it into the long reeds about 50 yards away. Second shot connected well... listened, listened, listened, listened....... splash. Must have gone close to the other side judging by the air time.
Think I got a winner here. Will go and fish out some balls from the riverside next week to make up for my littering.

Next on the shopping list is a putter.
Been testing a lot of them and the well weighted modern technology can be felt in every swing. My 25 year old putter won't be around for long.

Driver: Taylor Made Burner 10.5 R

    3W : Taylor Made Burner Superfast 3-15' N.S Pro 600 S shaft.

    5Metal/Utility: Yamamoto Blue Power BP007 21deg.

    Irons: Nike SQ Machspeed 4-AW

    Wedge: Nike 58 deg.

    SW: Fitway

Putter: Crowner Putter PLP 350 (25 years old)

Interested to see some more people put there weapons up here.
    Don't be shy!

The Cobra driver is going on the auction block. The kick is too high for me, and it is consistently producing some slices. Tried out a friends S-Yard in 9* and a 1* closed face and it is pretty hard to slice that one. Not only is it lighter, but a lower kick so I am getting a better ball flight and my misses are going just a little left. I'm going to get the full specs on it soon because I see the need for a new driver.

Yes! And if anyone says the club isn't the cause of slices, call them a lying, thieving,... Liar

Seriously though, during the last few practice sessions, when I picked up the Cobra, it was like a tractor beam on the practice mat directing the head in a slice approach. Which is weird because when I played WP a while back, I was mashing the driver. The next round, I felt like I could throw it further than I could hit it. Looking at just the trajectory and direction of the S-yard, it is pretty easy to see that the Cobra doesn't match me as well as the S-yard. So, I will use the specs from that one to begin with in my search for my next driver.

Well how'd ya fix the slice? Did you actually correct the swing, or like me, did you wind up with a driver that looks like a warped tire iron?

Some people say I have a slightly unusually shaped driver

Apart from that, I usually set up for a draw with the driver which seems to help. It's a band aid fix but it works for me.

I try to play with the foot position a little to shape shots, but it doesn't work out as well as I want. "Wingin' it " without an instructor isn't helping.
I can say that closing my stance and coming across the ball with my arms sometimes produces a straight shot though ;)

Nice! I'm looking for a new driver as well. As usual, I'm looking for cheap and perfect...so may take a while.

    What's wrong with everybody?
I thought this thread would be the most popular thing since carbon shafts...with everybody bragging about their quivers...

Surely, clubs are not secret weapons?

Come on guys what are you packing?

The yen rate will bring the driver to my door for about 38,000Â¥.
Secret weapons? You want secret weapons? I've got a tube of chap stick, an extra cell phone battery (yes, looking for my ball has sometimes resulted in needing to call a helicopter (many times)), swim fins (and a pair of goggles), a pair of hiking boots, a spike tool for my shoes, a lot of broken tees for my iron shots off the teebox, an 1871 silver dollar.... Hmmm... I think that is about it.

I've got a 3+w that goes like the devil when I hit it good, but I am still looking for a 3w that intuitively can hit a straight shot no matter what mistakes I make in my swing. So, I am unactively looking for another one.

Mine is actually a 9*, but some of the WLDC guys use the 6*. I am not sure how it sounds when hit, but I do like the looks of it though

Man I hope it comes tomorrow

The numbers relate to the degress of loft on the face. Theoretically, a 9.5 should go further than the 10.5 and will have a lower trajectory.

I'd recommend testing some out first as an 11 or 12 deg might even work for you. 9-9.5 degree drivers are tougher to hit well and when they go wrong, they go WRONG

+ if you have trouble getting height with a driver, the lower degree lofts are not advisable.
