Hello,
I had unfortunately found out that Windsor Park CC ceased their single player policy since last year (perhaps around the time the management changed) and now I'm a little frustrated that I don't have the freedom to play on my own (just like how it used to be when I was in New Zealand).
Would anyone know of a reasonable good course I can play during the weekday, which allows single players and accessible by train from Tokyo?

I don't know of any course in Kanto that allows you to play as a single (as a guest). There are a few that will put you in a group if you call a day or two ahead, and a few others where you can show up early in the morning and wait for a group who will let you join them. Do you want to know those courses?
You never know, you might find someone on here who can give you a game on a weekday and this won't be an issue![]()

Evening Golfer Don,
That's a question that, not only foreigners but also Japanese golfers are asking.
Course that I am certain that allows single player is Asaka Public. Weekdays are first come first serve based, they have a bus service from Asaka Station. If you can handle Japanese, Golf Digest Online has a single entry service for Omiya Kokusai, Edogawa GC, Joso Country, Riverside Phoenix and Shonan Seaside CC. Also a number of courses have what is called an Open Competition where single entries are accepted, also listed on GDO. Other than that, I think Tokyu Golf Tamagawa, Ukima Golf Jo also have a first come system but advise to call and confirm.

By the way, you can play Windsor Park as a single on a weekday if you are a member. You have to hire a caddy, but you can still do it. The same is true at almost every club.

Hello png,
Thanks for the advice. I am aware of some places that can group me with other people, but since I don't play much golf these days I don't want to put my day/time to chance if I can get a game or not depending if a group will let me join them (mind you I've never experienced it before and I can only assume it would be a little awkward). Thanks anyway.

Hi png,
Unfortunately I gave up my membership at Windsor since I was only able to play there once last year...I'm sure the caddies here are good people but I've had bad experiences with them when I played in Malaysia... warning to all of you that are thinking to play golf in Malaysia or SE Asia, just be really careful with your belongings/valuables.

I knew what you meant about wanting to play alone and not being grouped with someone. Your post was clear. Unfortunately, you're going to have to adapt or give up golf while you're here...
You could always do a haka on the first tee and the rest of your group will run away screaming, leaving you to play alone.![]()
Hi Don !
I understand your feeling.
I had similar chance in foreign country when I visited Golf Club alone, as first time, when I had a sudden free day.
I asked other group to join me and most case, they agreed to play with me in Taiwan, Canada, China and Korea.
So, please ask to Japanese Guys.
I think they will not reject to join you.
Then you can enjoy with Japanese player and may have a good
friendship.
Please try !

Thank you for your kind advice. I would be more than happy to have Japanese people join me to play golf! I'll ask around in the future.
In fact my dream would be to play golf everyday for the rest of my life....![]()
Hi Don
" play golf everyday for the rest of my life.."
Everyday ? No, NO,
We are busy, but find(or manage ) a day or time to play golf.
So, it is interesting.
Everyday is too much and severe.
You can have another hoby in addition to Golfing,
then you can enjoy golfing more to play with new friend of another hoby.
