Can anybody out there in Golfjin world give me the heads-up on whether it is possible to book and play just 9 holes, especially in coo-ee (Australian origin) of Tokyo.
Kind Regards
Tom

Here's a nine-hole course with no reservations needed. Quite famous, actually. Better condition than a riverside course, cheap, friendly staff and excellent food.

Tom, you can book on Rakuten and select courses that have 9 hole options. When I have searched I've found that quite a few in Chiba have very cheap 9 hole rates.
Doesn't get much more central than Wakasu on the way to Disneyland.

Yeah, expensive for a glorified riverside course.
And it's pretty hard to make a reservation. (Lame automated telephone booking system)
I recommend Asaka Public Golf .. Riverside, but quite well maintained and has the distance.
About 8,000 yen on a weekday including lunch.
Possible to have afternoon golf, from 2 pm 9 holes for about 4,000

Eduardo

Asaka is a good course, if you don't mind at times the newbees who don't have an idea of what "fast play" is nor the etiquette of golf.
Play fee will differ in the season. You can check it out at this site:

Otherwise if your Japanese is workable, as Smork advised I'd check out
Rakuten Gora or GDO where they have a variety of 9 hole play, from early bird to afternoon. Just checked on Rakuten and had a hit of 5 courses in Saitama, 16 in Chiba, 4 in Kanagawa and 0 in Tokyo. If you go directly to the HP of the courses in Tokyo, riverbed courses though, they will have options.
Have a good one.
Do you have fast play here in Japan?![]()
That Tsukuba course is pretty convenient from my house. Do you know if they take single-player reservations? Partnering with other people there is fine.

You can't play as a single, so you can't reserve as a single. Most of the players are singles, and most weekdays you can be on the tee in under 30 minutes after signing in.
So on the weekdays, they'll pair you up with other people if you come by yourself?

Just show up and they pair you up with others who just showed up like you. It's 3,500 yen for nine holes or 5,000 yen to go around twice. I believe you can play all day for another 500 yen. Cash, no credit cards. Change shoes in the parking lot before you start. You can show up as a single on weekends, too, but it's going to be slow going like any course.
You can stop for a quick lunch for another 500 yen if you pay it up front. If others stop for lunch and you don't, they'll put you with another group in the queue at the first tee. They mix groups of people playing nine or eighteen, so you may not play with all the same people each nine.
Ok, thanks! I think I may give them a try sometime soon.
