The Defender: Alvaro Quiros
Granto's Predictions: After correctly predicting last week's winner, Paul Lawrie, I'm feeling rather cocky about these predictions.
The Contenders:
Paul Lawrie - If he can bring the kind of form he showed in Qatar last week to Dubai, Lawrie's got to be good for a top placed finish again. For anyone who didn't catch the last round of the Qatar Masters, Lawrie not only coasted to victory but probably played the best golf of his career!
Rory McIlroy - Of the bookies 3 favorites, I think Rory will do the best this week. Captured his maiden victory here in 2009 so I'm sure the feel good factor will play a part as well.
Alvaro Quiros - The big hitting Spaniard won here last year and seems to do well on this course so I can see him putting up a good defense of his title.
John Daly - Daly probably surprised the hell out of a lot of people (and no doubt himself!) last week coming 4th in Qatar. He played some excellent golf and I hope he can keep it going this week. He probably won't but I still root for the big guy!
The Champion: Peter Hanson - Came close to victory in the last 2 events only to blow his chances with lackluster final rounds. I'm predicting 3rd time lucky for Hanson in the desert.
